Abstract:
In nowadays construction industry, Building Information Modeling (BIM) is becoming more and more popular. Using every bit of digital information to manage design, construction & operation phases ensure the stakeholders, better costs control and more predictable results. This presentation will introduce the audience to Virtual Construction and BIM, and will describe how Canam used those technologies to leverage the upstream and downstream market forces during the construction phase of one of the most challenging project ever built, the New Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
Presentation Highlights::
• Early planning of complex jobsite using 4D simulation
• Information rich models to share production statuses with customers and subcontractors
• Model based quality control on complex elements
• Transport planning and permit acquisition.
Presenter:
Daniel Barbeau, M.Eng. graduated in industrial engineering from Polytechnique Montréal in 2012.
A business partner with CadMax, a detailing firm specialized in structural steel until its acquisition by Canam Group in 2015, he now holds the position of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Detailing Services Manager with the corporation. His work is oriented towards lean principles applied to 3D modeling processes, as well as prefabrication optimizations through new technologies like BIM. He is actively involved in many discussion forums e.g. CanBIM and Building Smart Canada and promotes BIM through an industrial approach. As a lecturer Daniel teaches a BIM-related course at the ÉTS (École de Technologie Supérieure) in Montréal.
The presentation will be in French, Q&A will be bilingual
